The BenchPress Project encourages scientists to volunteer as guest speakers at media colleges and newsrooms, to foster greater scientific and statistical literacy in the press. There is a huge demand for science speakers: BenchPress volunteers have visited journalism schools in Belfast, Brighton, Camborne, Cardiff, Coventry, Lambeth, Liverpool, Newcastle, Sheffield, Twickenham, Vauxhall, Westminster and more!
To get involved, follow these three easy steps:
- Contact your local journalism training centre to see if they’d like a guest lecture on science and statistics. They almost always do! You can use this form letter.
- Browse the materials on this website, especially the suggest syllabus, and take what you need.
- Give your lecture!
All materials on this website are free to adapt, share and distribute. Anyone is free to establish their own BenchPress workshops
